Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, and the second largest of the Island of Ireland. It has a population of 343,542. While Belfast is a very safe city right now, it suffered greatly during the Troubles, and was one of the world’s most dangerous cities in the 70s and 80s. Belfast is an important port city, and shipbuilding was a key industry. In fact, the world-famous RMS Titanic was built there. It is currently one of the most visited cities in the UK, with attractions like the Ulster and Titanic museums, historical buildings and classic Irish pubs.
